Fun Day

The Okotoks Parade was lots of fun this year.

Jon took the girls last year by himself, so I was looking forward to going this time.

I went down early with a friend to reserve a good spot. We found a great one right in front of the post office next to a tree which provided some shade on that sunny day. And it was fun visiting while we waited for our families to come and for the parade to start.

Roewyn was running around like crazy while we were still waiting for the parade to start, so she got strapped in the stroller. We told her that we'd let her out once it started, but when it did, she just sat there having fun watching and displayed no desire to get out, so we left her in there. Her favorite parts were the Shriner's airplanes and the animal shelter's dogs. Mayson and Avery (and Jon) had lots of fun scrambling for candy when it was thrown. Avery's favorite float was the one with the 'girls in the pretty dresses' (go figure) and Mayson thought the Shriner's airplanes were pretty funny when they would spin. One guy came right in front of us and did a bunch of spins in a row, and made a dizzy face for Mayson after and she laughed pretty hard.

After the parade was over, we went to the Youth Festival by the library and spent the rest of the afternoon there. Mayson and Avery got their faces painted -Avery the cat and Mayson wanted a 'flower on her whole face', to which she had a bit of a reaction for church the next day :(
And Mayson was not in a picture mood so that is why there are no pictures of her, I don't think the flower on her whole face turned out the way she was expecting.
We had hot dogs for lunch while we watched the magician do his thing. The girls made a few crafts and we stood in line for over an hour to get balloon animals (NOTE TO SELF: next year, do balloon animals FIRST, when there are only about 5 people in line, then do everything else after. Sheesh). Mayson got a set of fairy wings, and Avery got a butterfly. Which both were popped within 36 hours of receiving them. Longer that usual for balloon's in our house.

And there was a really fun obstacle-course bouncy house thing that we went on about 5 times. The lines moved pretty fast so that was nice. Roewyn LOVED it because she could climb on jump on something without mom and dad telling her to STOP.

Avery finishing up....

All three girls at once.....you can kind of see part of the red flower on Mayson's face. And you could still see where the flower started and stopped from the rash on her face the next day. I was asked at church if she had slap-face, still not too sure what that is....and you can see that kid's underwear....oops.

Roewyn's not crying, that's her "this is so much fun!' face.
All in all it was a fun day and we are excited for next year!
