So as some may know, we have had a bit of a struggle keeping our older 2 girls in
their beds at night. We have a king size bed, but with 2 adults and 2 children (one of whom is a
MAJOR bed hog) it was getting very crowded and the adults were not getting any sleep, particularily me. Jon can pretty much sleep through anything. We tried tactics like taking privelages away (the Wii for Mayson, candy for Avery), locking their door and earlier bed times. It got to the point when the girls would come into our room, which would wake me up of course, and I would say "you are not going to get to play Wii/have candy tomorrow" and they would reply "I don't even want to play Wii/have candy". What can you say to that? After many tears, frustrations and threats of taking away
ANYTHING they cared about, we were out of ideas.
Jon then got this idea: if the girls could stay in their beds for a whole month straight, then they could get their ears pierced.
The original rule was that this would happen when they started school. But we were
desperate.
We asked the girls how they liked this idea, their response was as follows:
Avery: YAY!! Then I can wear my butterfly earrings!!!
Mayson: I don't really care about getting my ears pierced.
Mom: Then what do you want to do?
Mayson: I want to go to Olive Garden.
DEAL.So after a month, minus 1 mulligan for each girl (there was some sickness and a bad dream) the girls got their
prize. We went to Olive Garden thursday night, and went to get their ears pierced on saturday.
We went to Claire's at Chinook Mall, and the girl that helped us (Cynthia) was
AWESOME. She was super friendly and the girls were very comfortable with her. Cynthia and another lady tag-teamed it, thankfully. I don't think the girls would have let them do each one seperately. I had told them before hand that 'it would be a big pinch, then its over' (they reiterated this to Cynthia as well), so they were prepared, but still......

Roewyn was surprisingly very well behaved. I thought she would have been itching to get out of the stroller and grab everything in the store, but nope. Dad even let her pick out a purse for being so good.

Mayson getting hers done. She was sitting on my lap and when they punched it, she didn't even flinch. But Jon said she kind of made a face.

Avery flinched a little bit, and went to grab for her ear once it was done. But when everyone said "ALL DONE!" she was fine. She was sitting on my lap, and I could see the smile from the back of her head. When Avery first sat on my lap, I guess she was smiling because Cynthia asked her "you're pretty excited aren't you?"

My proud, hole-y girls! They were very tough! And Avery of course was happy about the sucker.

Pretty girls.
You said after many tears. I imagine the tears were yours, not theirs. Yes?
Good reward. Proud little girls are so cute. SO, do you think they'll revert back to old habits?
Hopefully NOT!! Jon has threatened to take the earrings out if they do. And the tears were mostly theirs, but I probably had a drew a few during the days that I got little sleep :)
Nice work! We are all about 'threats & deals' over here. Whatever works is right!
Your girls are so cute. I can't wait for Remy to be excited for things like getting her ears pierced, so cute!
Happy Sleeping!
