So my visiting teachers came today and the message that they shared was about the difference in the roles of men and women, and I have been thinking about it most of the day. There was a quote that I really liked from Margaret D. Nadauld, "Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind... We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith..." That quote says it all I think. The roles of men and women are very different, but equally important. It is important to have both influences in a home because it teaches children what to value in each role. Heavenly Father knows what he's doing- he created men and women to complement each other, not to compete with each other. I'm all for girl power, but I believe that a women's primary role is in the home. I'm realistic and a know that there are situations when there is a single parent (mother or father) and even when there are two parents in the home, they may need a second income. But I think a woman's priority should be the home and caring for and raising their children. And I think today's world has lost sight of that. Women are meant to be soft and feminine and nurturing, and we can be these things and be strong and independant at the same time. |

I was just thinking...
