ZZZZZzzzzzz......

So last night....

We've been putting the girls to bed around 8:00 now, seeing as how they don't actually fall asleep until around 10:30 or LATER sometimes (this may change to 7:30, which seems just too early). Roewyn went to bed at 9:30, which is pretty normal for her. The girls have got themselves into the routine of ceasing to come out of their room (though still awake and playing) at around this time, and Roewyn seems to want to go to bed as well. After the normal few "I need a drink/go to the bathroom/I want to cuddle", they remain in their room. We are running short of ideas minus locking them in their room, which I did once, but they continued to play and stay up late.

I went to bed a bit late, my own doing, around 12:30. Thursday night tv and everything. I just wasn't feeling very tired, so I read for about 30 minutes. I fell asleep pretty quickly, well started to, only to have Avery crying about a bad dream. Typical. So I went and got her back to sleep. I went back to bed, only to have Avery come in because she was cold and wanted to cuddle. 2 minutes I said. It actually turned more into about 10 minutes, because I fell asleep. I took her back to bed, and noticed the time was 2:36. I continued to sleep until 4:35, when I heard Roewyn crying (she almost NEVER wakes up in the night, maybe 2 times a month, if that). She was crying off and on for about 10 minutes, each time being quiet for longer and longer, so I thought she would just go back to sleep on her own. Not so much. She was quiet for about 30 seconds, so I started to try to get comfortable again, to which she replied with an even LOUDER cry than before. So I groan out of bed, thankfully my robe was still on the floor from my shower in the morning (I always think ahead). I start to put my robe on, and surprise surprise, she stops crying and is completely quiet all of a sudden. I am now frozen mid-application of robe, standing there like a super hero or something, afraid to move out of fear of waking her up again, which is ridiculous because she is down the hall with 2 closed doors between us. But at 4:50am, which is now the time, I wasn't thinking very rationally. JUST as I start taking my robe off after a solid minute of silence, in my super hero stance, what do I hear?

So I take Roewyn downstairs to watch a little tv, because its faster than rocking her back to sleep. I change her diaper then I turned the tv on and there was an infomercial about this G2 Swivel Sweeper thing, it was quite enthralling, so we watched it for about 5 minutes. I then watched Community, which is pretty funny by the way. Fast forwarding commercials cuts it down to about 20 minutes. After it was over, I asked Roewyn very nicely if we could go back to sleep, and she nodded so I took her back upstairs. Put her in bed, all is quiet, so I walk down the hall to my room. I hear a second body breathing on my side of the bed, I feel for jammies and hair length. Who do you suppose it is?

So I put AVERY back in her bed for a third time, and crawl back into bed at 5:11.

Mayson and Avery came into bed with me at 8:36am. They cuddled for a bit, then they heard Roewyn and went into her room. I don't know what time this was because I fell back asleep and didn't want to open my eyes. Avery then comes back into my room and right up close to my face says "Mom, I stayed in my bed all night!"

"No, my dear, you did not".

And PS......I want a G2 Swivel Sweeper.

Oh, how I hate those nights. I'm sorry you had such a long one. Wish I could take those little angels off your hands for some time today so you could sleep....oh, if we only lived closer...

Oh man, you ARE a superhero! I hope you don't have a repeat night of that for a while! Gotta love 'em though. :)

Oh those are my least favorite nights and they seem to be more and more frequent around here lately! Lydia must be going through a growth spurt or something .....
Next time I will have to come pick up the girls so you can get a nap in!

Funny post! It is so much more enjoyable reading about someone else's night with a humorous twist then living through them. Do those nights ever stop?!?
